The accuracy of a 3D scanner is given by the closeness of its 3D point measurements of a scanned object to the actual values. Here, one of the most straightforward 3D structures for evaluation is a sphere lying on a planar surface.

LilScan is a so-called structured light system using a known light pattern to triangulate the 3D scene depth. In the case of LiLScan, a simple line laser is utilized as a light source placed at a fixed relative position to the camera.
