Accuracy of LilScan

The accuracy of a 3D scanner is defined by the closeness of its 3D point measurements to a scanned 3D structure. Here, one of the most straightforward 3D structures for an estimate is a sphere lying on a planar surface.

Working Principle

LilScan is a so-called structured light system using a known light pattern to triangulate the 3D scene depth. In the case of LiLScan, a simple line laser is utilized as a light source placed at a fixed relative position to the camera.

LilScan DIY Kit

We are excited to present LilScan, the first do-it-yourself (DIY) kit for a 3D Laser Profiler. It is based on the Raspberry Pi 4 combined with the Raspberry Camera Module V2. It allows to measures 3D contours with sub-millimeter accuracy and helps to bring your budget critical projects to life.
